Dixie Grammar School pupils have again had the opportunity to showcase their cooking talents.

Hinckley Ambion Rotary Club held the first round of the Rotary Young Chef Competition at the school and, as usual, the standard was very high.

The pupils had been briefed by Home Economics teacher Clare Hannaghan on their task, which was to plan, cost and prepare a healthy, tasty, two course meal and to present it in the given time.

The competitors from the school were Sophie from Year 7, William from Year 8, Phillipa and Sam from Year 9 and Lily and Kaden from Year 10.

The judges, Judy Brooks and Ann Jones from the Rotary club together with Mrs Lynne and Mrs Banton from the school staff, praised all the competitors for the high standard of their work.

The eventual winner was Kaden with his meal of Crispy Halloumi with Homemade Egg Noodles served with salad, followed by Deconstructed White Chocolate and Raspberry Cheesecake.

Kaden will now go forward to the District Competition in February 2023 at Bourne Academy taking with him the best wishes of the club and the school for his continued success.

Congratulations to Kaden, Thanks to the organiseres President Mike Jewkes and Clare Hannigan of Dixie Grammer School and the judges Mrs Lynne and Mrs Banton of Dixie Grammer School, Rtn Ann Jones and Rtn Judy Brookes.

Kaden went on to the District final in Feb 23 and although not placed did enjoy the event.
