To mark World Polio Day, Hinckley Ambion Rotary Club has planted purple crocuses in Argents Mead. Together with members of Hinckley and Bosworth’s Greenspace team more than 8,000 corms were planted between silver birch trees which will make a stunning display next spring.
The purple crocus is a symbol of Rotary’s worldwide campaign to eradicate polio and the purple colour represents the dye used to mark the finger of a child who has been immunised.
The club has just celebrated its 30 year anniversary and continues to support projects internationally and closer to home such as Lawrence House, First Responders and Women’s Aid.
