The
Godalming Woolsack 15th annual charity golf day was completed successfully at
the West Surrey GC on May 3rd in glorious sunshine. A total of 23 teams of
four competed for the Woolsack Trophy and the winners were 'Team GB' with an
excellent 85 points with ‘The Happy Chaps’ in second place and 'Team Hurrey’ in
third.
Rotary is most grateful to West Surrey Golf Club, who had the course in
excellent condition, despite many days of rain preceding our event, and who
provided much assistance on the day. The catering staff produced a great three
course rolling lunch and managed to slake the thirst of golfers on a
beautifully warm day.
We had the pleasure of a short presentation from representatives of the two main charities - John Glenister for Kent Surrey and Sussex Air Ambulance and Mike Price for Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice Care - prior to the well supported auction of courtesy golf vouchers and the prizes.
Our thanks go also to all those local businesses and people who sponsored a tee and those who donated raffle prizes. As a result, we were able to raise a grand total of well over £4,000 to go to the charities.
Well done the Woolsack golf team for bringing this all
together. Let’s hope the weather is as good next year!
