!!!!Ripon Pancake Race 2025 !!!!
Tuesday 4th March
11 am outside Ripon Cathedral
Sign up in teams of up to 4 on the day
As the Lenten bell rings in Ripon Cathedral at 11 am each year on Shrove Tuesday to bring in the beginning of Lent, the Pancake Races begin!
The Rotary club of Ripon Rowels are proud to support this centuries old tradition, which combines marking the beginning of Lent with having a lot of competitive fun flipping pancakes, and, of course, eating them, along the cobbled streets of Ripon. Prizes and certificates for the participants are an added incentive to get involved.
The race is usually run by local school children, more competitively by local businesses and not forgetting all the Ripon Cathedral clergy but is open to one to all!
