The Rotary Club of Astley held
their annual hand over evening on the 17.07.2007at the Portofino Restaurant in
Blackrod.
It was an excellent evening much enjoyed by everyone in particular the clubs
incoming President Rotarian Bob
Hamilton.
The evening
was well attended by members and their guests.
Out going
president Rotarian Robert Bates thanked the Club for their support and hard
work that had enabled the club to allocate in excess of £20,000 to Local and
International Organisations and Charities over the last 12 months.
Local youth and
sporting organisations having been hi-lighted as having particularly benefited.
Among other
items presented was a certificate received by the club from Christies Hospital,
acknowledging the clubs donation of £1,000 via District 1280 Governor Shirley
Gardeners appeal.
The chain of
office was handed over to President Bob
and the club expressed its good wishes him and his Vice President Rotarian
Frank Heyes for the coming year.
President Bob stressed his desire for the club to have fun and
fellowship whilst assisting good causes and encouraging new membership
