Southport Links Rotary donate £1,500 to the Bump it Forwards campaign

President Robin Carter hands over the donation to Karen Brady

The president of the Rotary Club of Southport Links met up with Karen Brady,  the Director of Fundraising for the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine to hand over a cheque for £1,500 for the school's Bump It Forwards Campaign. This campaign was set up to ask that UK residents who have been fortunate to be some of the first in the world to receive their Covid vaccinations and at no point of delivery cost, to donate an amount equivalent to the cost of the jab to their fund, a similar idea to buying a coffee forwards in a  coffee shop for someone in need. They estimated the average cost of the vaccination to be £25. Funds raised would go to provide PPE and other equipment for medical staff, volunteers and patients in Africa who will have to wait for some time before the Covid vaccination will be available to them. For more information, and to donate, visit the LSTM website by clicking here Bump It Forwards

The concept was immediately understood by our members who donated a total of £750 to the campaign. This amount was doubled from money the club had raised through other activities increasing the total given to £1,500.
