The Queen Victoria School annual Volunteering Awards Ceremony took
place on Thursday 25 June with many of the charities who had been
involved coming along to celebrate the achievements of the pupils. A
total of 18 good causes were supported during the year and thousands of
pounds was raised.
The pupils’ efforts were praised by Jill Adams, 6th Year
co-ordinator at QVS who said the ideas all came from the pupils and they
gave total commitment to the chosen beneficiaries.
A total of 12 pupils received the Silver Award for 100 hours
volunteering from Mandy Boyce, Volunteer Support Worker with
Stirlingshire Voluntary Enterprise Ltd. and 16 pupils received the Gold
Award for 200 hours.
The Rotary Award for Community Volunteers of the Year went to Navino
Gurung and Bishnu Dura, seen below with Past President Iain Smith, for
their work in fundraising for the relief efforts following the
earthquake in Nepal.
