Over 50 members of the Queen Victoria School Interact Club hosted members last Thursday at the school. Sporting their new, colourful polo shirts, the youngsters made their visitors very welcome and after an excellent meal, the games commenced.
Based (loosely) on the Rotary Gavel competition where clubs meet and compete in a variety of different activities, the Interactors were teamed up with a Rotary member and undertook a number of challenges, some physical, such as Twister, and some more cerebral, like Boggle.
Organiser Rod Jones and Rotarian and QVS teacher Jill Adams attempted to bring some control to the event, 'helped' by Interact president Rebecca Johnson, and amid the chaos, some order emerged and the teams managed to get through a number of the activities.
Eventual winners were Rotarian Mary Fraser with S3 pupils Sammy Rollo, Hollie Keenan and Francesca Cockburn.
After the games, the new Interact Office bearers for 2014-2015 were announced as - President, Hannah Sloan, Vice President, Lucy McNair, Treasurer, John Kane and Secretary, Tarah Lynch.
An exhausted bunch of Rotarians left the school, grateful that the usual Gavel competition was a much more sedate affair but having had a great deal of fun in the process.
