This year's Beat Beethoven will be held on 20 October at Stirling University.
To launch the event, the maestro visited Phoenix Honda in Stirling on Saturday 15 June to orchestrate the car washing efforts of the volunteers.

A grand charity car wash last weekend at the Phoenix Honda showrooms at Kerse Road, Stirling was the shining curtain raiser for a charity fun run that will take place on Sunday 20 October at Stirling University.

Organised by the Bridge of Allan and Dunblane (BoAD) Rotary club, teams of shampooers from the East Stirlingshire Football Club, Queen Victoria School, Dunblane, BoAD members and the Young Parkinson's Support Group washed around 60 vehicles, and raised £660 towards the Beat Beethoven fun run that challenges contestants of all ages and abilities to run either five kilometres or walk 2.7 kilometres within the time it takes to perform Beethoven's Fifth Symphony (around 35 minutes).

Last year's inaugural event was a huge success, attracting almost 400 contestants and raising £9,400 for the Children's Hospice Association Scotland (CHAS) and Parkinson's UK.

Determined to do even better this year, BoAD joint organisers Peter Holmes and his wife Paddy have enlisted sponsorship from Phoenix Stirling for the second time, and from Waitrose Stirling. Their support makes a huge difference and we can't thank them enough, said Paddy, Phoenix has been absolutely fantastic this weekend in setting up the car wash for us including refreshments for visitors.

Kevin Henderson, general manager Phoenix Stirling, said: 'We are delighted to be able to support this event for charity and we are always open to develop joint ideas for fundraising with the BoAD Rotary club. In this instance, we're helping to raise as much money as possible for CHAS and Parkinson's whilst having some fun along the way.'

Sentiments echoed by Lindsay Clifford, Waitrose Stirling branch manager, who said: "My team and I are delighted to be supporting such a unique and fun event that helps a fantastic cause. Through our Community Matters green token scheme we are able to support local causes with £12,000 each year but we particularly enjoy getting involved in events - now we just have to decide our fancy dress theme!"
