26 May 2012 - Duck Race, Teas on the Green and Fling by the River

Sat, May 26th 2012 at 12:00 am - 2:00 am

This year's Duck Race and Teas on the Green took place in glorious sunshine at the Drying Green below Dunblane Cathedral.

Saturday saw the culmination of months of preparation when the day of the Fling by the River finally arrived. Blue sky and sunshine welcomed hundreds of visitors to a full day of fun and entertainment at the Drying Green below Dunblane Cathedral. First off was the Coffee Morning at the Cathedral Hall, followed by the parade down the High Street led by broadcaster Gordon Brewer from Newsnight Scotland who formally opened the event. The Duck Race was at 1pm and the Allan Water was in ideal condition for an exciting race. There was no let up for all the volunteers manning the Crepe stall and the Bouncy Castle which were queued out all afternoon.

There was plenty entertainment from local singers to face painting to a display of Highland dancing by the Queen Victoria School.

President Rod Jones thanked all the members and partners who had turned out to support the event which looks like being one of the most successful ever, thanks to the excellent cooperation between the Rotary Club and the Fling organisers.
