The above photo shows three members of the Rotary Club of Cwmbran Vale, namely President: Alan Arnott, Youth Activities leader: Damian McCool and Project Leader: Stuart Telling. visiting Croesyceiliog School on 21 October 2020, to present a cheque for £500 to Executive Headteacher Elspeth Lewis and Lead Practitioner in English: Peter Knowles, in support of their new Literacy scheme.
This new 'Accelerated reading' scheme , aims to engage and support all 250 students in year 7 and over time all 750 pupils in Key Stage three in developing their reading skills, and improving their access to all subjects across the curriculum. This is a vitally important and ambitious scheme which has the potential to drive up attainment and achievement for all students.
President Alan Arnott said he was very happy to continue to support the Staff and Pupils of the school in their work in the community.
Headteacher Elspeth Lewis said she was, on behalf of the pupils and Staff, delighted to receive the generous donation and looked forward to working with the Rotary Club of Cwmbran Vale in their important work in the community.
