We worked hard this year to support local children and families who might be struggling over the festive season. We have delivered over 300 Xmas food parcels to disadvantaged children and families, working with Burnham Care & Share, and schools in Burnham, Farnham Common, and Farnham Royal. The parcels contained an amazingvariety of food, seasonal treats, and educational items.
The project was a major logistical challenge and a team effort involving more than 20 Rotarians and volunteers. Many trips were made to local supermarkets! The recent cold weather and snow made the task even more difficult.
We were extremely grateful to receive financial support from the Beeches Community Board at Buckinghamshire Council which has helped to make this project possible. Beeches Community Board Chairman Cllr David Anthony said, "We are very pleased to support this worthwhile project helping local residents during the festive period. We know how hard the Rotary Club volunteers have worked to make this happen and it's great to hear how well received the parcels have been".
more We held the Farnhams' Orchard Day on Saturday September 28th in the Dell, with children's activities, apple-pressing, beekeeping, games, craft stalls and lots more. After a weeks of heavy rain the day was dry and the sun shone!
