RACE REPORT – BURNHAM BEECHES RUN 22 OCTOBER 2016
The
10th Annual Burnham Beeches Run took place on Saturday, 22nd October.
Course conditions were good and relatively dry resulting in some fast
times. The autumn colours of the trees provided a lovely backdrop for
the event. This was the second time we held both 5K and 10K races and
the 5K was open to a Junior category
In total 261 athletes took
part in what proved to be a competitive race. Fabian Downs won the men’s
10K in a new record time of 34:44 beating the 2011 record of Matthew
Salt by 12 seconds. Clair Pusey was the 10K ladies winner for the second
year running knocking almost 3 minutes from her tiime last year.
Ian
Gutteridge and Sabrina Hales took the winning positions in the 5K
race.Joseph Acland and Ruth Heffermen won the 5K Juniors with Joseph
finishing in a time that would have put him number two in the Men's 5K!
The event is organised by Burnham Beeches Rotary Club and all the proceeds will go to support good causes.
