Report from the Young Enterprise Competition Sponsored by the Club.


Young Enterprise Competition Sponsored by the Club and held at Eden Walk, Kingston.

Objectives:- Design, Produce and Market a Product and develop Management and Entrepreneurial skills.

The Teams:-  Esher College, Christ School,  Grey Coat School, St Paul’s School x 3,  Hampton School and Tiffin School for Girls.

Those Present:- Members of the South London YE scheme, The Mayor of Richmond and his good wife, Katharine Brown (RC Kingston- Judge for Best Stall), Edd Nicklen (Round Table -Judge for Best Marketing), Salim Laher & Rosa (Representing RC of Kew Gardens- Judges for Best Product), John Canon, Clive Suckling and Erwan Toulemonde, Young Enterprise Area Manager - South London.

Prizes for were presented for Best Product, Best Marketing and Best Stall.


The results for the Best Product catagory were:-

1st.    Tiffin School for Girls – Innovative/ Educational Book Adventures with Amara.
The girls produced an innovate, creative and educational book, beautifully designed and illustrated for children and parents covering social issues. The book has been launched professionally with wide interest from large distributors and significant amount has been sold to more than break even. They have an interesting link on their online shop.

2nd.    St Paul’s School  Team Phoenix -  Air Band.
They produced wrist band with that can detect and measure the air pollution level to ensure that the a walker/ runner can avoid highly polluted areas. Once linked to a smart phone create a pollution map and can feed the information to various organisations. Good product but need for further development and marketing.

3rd)    St Paul’s School  Team V Track wrist beads to detect UV Light intensity.
They produced a product a wrist band which with beads which change colour progressively depending on the level of UV light. The wrist band is very useful for people/children with medical issues when exposed with intensive UV light. The product again has not been fully development on the marketing side but has great potential.
