NOTE :- FOLLOWING INFORMATION FOR 2025 IS PROVISIONAL - NOT YET OPEN FOR ENTRIES
Stockport Lamplighter Rotary Club is pleased to welcome teams again to take part in our 23rd annual swimming fundraiser. It is for swimmers of all ages and abilities.
Each team has a 55-minute slot, but only one member of each team swims at once. There is no need for any one individual to swim for the whole 55 minutes. Team-members usually take it in turns to swim a length or two each but each team can choose their own format . All sponsorship is based on the team's total of lengths, not that of any one individual. The pool is divided into four lanes, so four teams can swim for each period of 55 minutes, with a five-minute changeover period for the next teams to get in place.
All teams will receive a certificate showing the number of lengths swum by the team.
The Rotary Club of Stockport Lamplighter has so far raised in excess of £75,000 from these events for local charities. As always, however, teams have the option of nominating their own charity to receive 50% of the sum raised by the team , the remainder will go to Rotary nominated charities.
Please don't be put off by the title. No team, or individual, is being asked to swim an unduly long distance. This is not a competition. There are no hard and fast rules about how a team should be organised – some may prefer to swim alternate lengths, while others may prefer members to swim for more than one length. All we ask is that inexperienced, or out-of-condition, swimmers do not exceed their capacity.
