Community Christmas Party

Held at Heaton Mersey Community Centre on St Johns Road.

Every year the club organises a party for around 100 senior citizens.

We provide transport , food and seasonal entertainment .

many thanks to Tricia and her team of helpers in making this years event another great success and to David Scott for the photos.

N W Air Ambulance

more One of the charities we support is N W Air Ambulance. They recently talked to the club and we made a donation of £500. On Saturday 7th September Lamplighter Amy abseiled down Liverpool Cathedral and raised a further £700 .

Helping Other Organisations

more We love to be able to help out when other charitable organisations need help for a big event. On 6th July 2024 we had a busy day helping out at the Wilmslow Round Tables beer festival and the charity fair organised by Together Trust in Cheadle.

more We like to help out by participating in other organisation's charitable events . Typical of these was the Wilmslow Beer Festival held on 6th July 2024.

Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma

more David, Nic and Matthew Hulme returned to update us on the latest research into this disease. We presented a cheque to the Alex Hulme Foundation .

Stockport Samaritans

more Community Service Chairperson Kevin handed over a cheque for £250 to Lynn Sbaih from the Samaritans .

Community IFTAR

more We were again invited by the South Manchester Muslim Community Association to their IFTAR which celebrates the breaking of the Ramadan Fast.

Buddy Benches - To combat loneliness

more We have placed Buddy Bench signs on 12 benches throughout the Borough and are planning more locations. This is a recent bench at Craig Road Playing Fields.

Purple Crocus Planting Polio vaccination

more We worked with local school children and the Heaton Mersey Collective to plant crocus corms . The choice of flower is a reminder of Rotary's campaign to eliminate polio , more details below.

Scarecrows Invade Heaton Chapel Station

more A display of scarecrows was organised at the station by the Rotary club along with other groups, See details below.

Food Bank Collections

more Club members organise the collection and delivery of food donated by local people to take to food banks .

Buddy Benches

more In an effort to further boost community spirit and combat loneliness , the Club has sponsored signage for Buddy Benches #PeopleOfAction

Purple Crocus Planting

more In order to highlight the Polio eradication campaign the club has again organised the planting of purple crocus corms in the area. This year some of the planting was done by pupils of Stella Maris school.

more The club planted up and delivered pots of seasonal plants to 63 local care homes.

Feeding The Community

more For several years some of our club members helped this charity on a regular basis by delivering hot meals in the Stockport area.

Childrens Hospital Pyjamas

more The Club organised the collection of new childrens pyjamas for distribution to local hospitals.

Christmas Meal

more The Lamplighters helped fund this Christmas Meal organised by Clare Cliff for folk who otherwise might have been on their own on Christmas Day.
