So what do you do when you have a chestnut tree in the garden in Autumn, and you want to raise some money for Foundation? Well, it's obvious isn't it!
Foundation Chair Peter Carter decided to invite Club members to his garden to have a conkers competition in order to get together for a great time and also raise some money for End Polio now.
And so it was that a number of us gathered in early November to set about doing something most of us hadn't done since we were kids!
Lots of discussions about the rules of play ("I can't remember how this works now!") and decisions on which local rules applied before the play started and then we were off.
While most eschewed the health and safety provision with gloves and glasses it wasn't long before we all got back to it just as if it was yesterday. And the addition of bread pudding from IPP Derek's wife Caroline capped it all as well!
In the end it was fitting that our Sports Chair George should win the trophy and the medallion, and £130 was added to the coffers for End Polio Now!
