Hyde Hall Live - Wickford collaborates with RHS

A new entertainment experience born out of the pandemic

While Wickford Rotary have for many years hosted the Jazz on a Summer Evening event in late June, 2021 offered a new opportunity to entertain the people of the area.

As is well known RHS Hyde Hall run a number of outdoor live music and other entertainment events during the course of the summer season, but due the constraints of the pandemic this year a lot of them have had to be cancelled. And so it was that Wickford Rotary was approached by the Events team at RHS Hyde Hall to see if we could collaborate in a three night music extravaganza, centred around the well established Wickford Jazz event

Of course, Wickford Rotary leapt at the opportunity to get involved in such a prestigious project, and so "Hyde Hall Live" was born.

Friday Night saw the brilliant 50s Rock n Roll band The Bluejays play for us, giving us very impressive 50s covers of Elvis Presley, Buddy Holly, Chuck Berry, the Everly Brothers,  Eddie Cochran, Little Richard, Cliff Richard and many more. With classic cars accompanying the band to give a real 1950s experience the evening the crowd really got into the spirit of the music. Check out the page for more details and photos of the event.

Saturday Night was Trad Jazz with the incredible Sunshine Kings, inspired by the music of New Orleans, the singing and dancing of the 1920's, the dixieland and trad revivals in America and the UK. Check out the page to see just how the music enhanced the brilliant setting

On Sunday night we saw Lord Toffingham entertain us playing music from the glam rock era and immersing us in the sights and sounds of the 1970s.The rain came down, but nobody seemed to care, they just kept on dancing !

Check out the pages for a better insight into each of these nights

The MusicLicence what is it?

more Music amplifies everything it touches. It can turn a field into a festival, a bar into a dancefloor and a job into a passion. So it’s important that we stand up for music by protecting those that make it.
