The Rotary Club of Wickford recently welcomed its first ever Friends of Rotary to the Club, a role which the Club created in the past year in order to encourage more people to get involved in what we do.
We often find that we meet people who are keen to get involved in Rotary, but for many reasons do not feel abe to make the full commitment to becoming a Rotarian. In order to make it possible for such people to become involved, the Rotary Club of Wickford has created the role of Friend of Rotary.
Our new found Friends will be kept fully informed of what is going on in the Club, and will be able to join in at whatever level they can, and we look forward to a long and fruitful relationship with them.
At a recent meeting three of our four new Friends, Shirin Chakera, Richard Jones, Anne Lilley and Mark Chapman were welcomed to the Club in this new role by Vice President Jack Pemberton.
All of these people have been heavily involved in the most recent activities with the Club; Shirin helped us at the Fireworks Display back in November, while Mark, Anne and Richard helping Santa over the Christmas period with the static and street Sleigh collections, Richard even helping Santa out with his costume at one point!
