This event has proved very popular - 25 of us will be sailing on the oldest seagoing paddle steamer in the world.
Tips Remember,
even in late summer it may get chilly when sailing so bring along a sweater or
jacket. Sensible footwear is advisable.
When should I be at my departure point?
Please ensure that you are at the ship 10
minutes prior to the departure time. Boarding closes 5 minutes before
departure on outward and return journeys. Please note that gangways are usually
open up to 30 minutes before departure at Waverley’s starting port for a
sailing.

Southend Pier/Railway -
Southend Pier, SS1 1EE. Arrive at pier in time to board pier train and
travel down the pier to join Waverley. We suggest you arrive at the pier around
1 hour before Waverley departs to take the train down the pier. Southend Pier
toll/train - Adults £5.80 return.
Trains depart out for pierhead on the hour & half hour
and return back at quarter to hour and quarter past the hour.
For those walking the 1.33 miles, it’s £2.00 return or walk one
way, train the other @ £5.30.

Car Parking - there is no parking at Southend Pier. Cars may drop passengers
off at the drop off point at the West entrance to Southend Pier, next to
Adventure Island.
There is ample parking along the
seafront and in the town centre, with bays for disabled parking.
I reckon we’ll need to pay for 10 hours – 6 hours will not be enough. A good
reason for us to arrange to ‘car-share’ as much as possible
