Members of the Rotary Club of Ingatestone (RCOI) raised £2,107 for Macmillan Cancer Support during a six-hour collection yesterday at Sainsbury’s, Springfield.
This is the first
time the Club has held its Christmas collection on a Sunday, rather than a
Saturday, and we are very pleased with the excellent result, which means RCOI
has raised just under £28,000
since starting these collections in 2008.
Thanks go to Ron Elliston, Marel's husband, for liaising with MCS & Sainsburys and organinsing the collection. Thanks to all those volunteers who did 2 hour shifts collecting, but special thanks to our two Santa's, Tony Stringer of RC Chelmsford Rivermead and Ingatestone member Andrew Clarkson [ who deserved a medal by doing 2 shifts]
MCS commented:- "What an amazing
email to receive, that is a truly incredible amount of money. I really hope
that you and the team are pleased with your hard work. On behalf of everyone at
Macmillan Cancer Support thank you so very much for all of your dedication and
the difference that you will make to those in our community that need our
support is incredible so thank you very much."
