Our annual Summer Evening Jazz, held in the gardens of historic Ingatestone Hall, by kind permission of Lord Petre, on Saturday 6th July. It was a marvellous occasion, with over 700 people, revelling in two very different styles of Jazz.
The Salty Town Six were first to play and gave us some wonderful New orleans Traditional Jazz numbers.
Lord Petre welcomed everyone, and in attendance were the Mayor of Brentwood Cllr. Keith Parker and his wife Francis, and they kindly chose the Best Dressed Vintage Costume winners! This was a new venture this year.
At the point that The Jive Aces hit the stage, the rain had decided to visit us, Fortunately, this did not deter the crowd’s enthusiasm and enjoyment of this energetic jive and swing group. In no time at all the ground was full of people dancing and singing along with the group. There was a break between The Jive Aces two performances when the winners of the Raffle were announced. The gorgeous lady raffle ticket sellers had done a great job and, with the generosity of local trader's prize donations, a profit of over £2,000.00 was made.
Our total income for the event was approximately £18,000.00. At this stage the profit is not known, but The Not Forgotten Association and Nerve Tumour UK will be the main beneficiaries. Our grateful thanks to our headline sponsors and general supporters for making all this possible.
Thanks to Chairman, Andrew Clarkson, and all the members, who made such an excellent team and to all who came to the event and supported us - about 700 this year
