Mike kindly provided a 'Bio' - so we have published this for your information:-
Born and bred in Sheffield, very much a Yorkshireman, after completing A-levels went to Leeds University Medical School for 5 years and Graduated in 1970. My first jobs were in Scarborough and Bradford before moving down to Boston where I joined a General Medical Practice in 1974, after 3 years I found myself as the Senior Partner in a 3 doctor practice. As a General Practitioner in an Agricultural area, I found myself having to deal with orthopaedic problems relating to the working conditions of the agricultural labourers and therefore undertook some training in the field of Orthopaedic Medicine, this lead to me training as an Osteopath at the London College of Osteopathic Medicine (Boston Place next to Marylebone Station) I have explored other forms of Alternative Medicine and eventually also trained as an Acupuncturist. Eventually I decided to retire from General Medical Practice in 2010. Over the years I have developed my hobbies, particularly photography, ballroom dancing (especially Argentine Tango), and bird watching, which has now developed into bird ringing to help with the scientific study of bird migration and longevity. In more recent years I have started to relearn to play Bridge, having first been taught by fellow students at University. It could be said that my path to the Rotarians has been via Tango as I came to know Michele because of this joint interest, and it was she who suggested that I might like to join the Rotary Club. |
