Charter Night 2016
at Ingatestone Hall on Thursday 30th June 2016
Our 41st Charter Celebration was held in the
Stone Hall of 16th Century Ingatestone Hall; this was the club’s
first Charter Night in this historic venue. With Lord Petre being an Honorary
Member of the club, it is believed that we enjoyed favourable ‘hire terms’.
Organised predominantly by Helder Lemos and Derek Welton, with Presidential input from John Metcalfe, the black-tie dinner evening started with a pre-dinner drink of bubbly for the 53 members, partners, and friends attending this important function in the club’s year. In keeping with our surroundings, President John said a medieval grace before we enjoyed an excellent meal.
As this was also our Presidential handover, Secretary Roger Harste presented our Past President John Metcalfe with his Past President’s Badge, whilst John held on to his Presidential Chain for 2016/17.
For entertainment, background music was provided by Cliff Jones and many of us joined Akshay
& Melissa on the dance floor. It was a very pleasant and memorable evening.
