On Monday 30th September a large group of Rotarians and their wives and partners plus friends paid a visit to the Mayflower Project at Harwich. We were welcomed by Jeff Webber, the Training and Development Manager and started off by being shown the saw that cuts the oak trunks into planks. Jeff explained that their present saw will be too small for their future work and they are hopefully purchasing a larger second hand model. Afterwards Jeff gave us a short but comprehensive talk about how the project got off the ground, and how it had progressed and went on to tell us about the apprenticeship scheme that they are running at the moment. Then it was on to the loft where the frames etc will be drawn out in full size, a template for the real thing. The keel will be laid shortly within a cradle so that when the vessel
