This week Pam, from the ‘Hearing Dogs for Deaf People’, joined the club for lunch, accompanied by Enzo, a Cocker Spaniel. Pam shared an insightful into the charity’s wonderful work.
Pam and her husband are trainers who typically take young dogs at around 8 weeks old and train them to become hearing dogs and companions for people who are deaf. The dogs are trained to respond to various sounds and alert their owners, which is crucial for things like fire alarms and other sounds such as doorbells, clock alarms, and oven bells.
The club was very pleased to make a donation to the charity following a lovely talk from Pam & Enzo.
More details on the work of the charity can be found on their website at https://www.hearingdogs.org.uk/
