On Saturday, the 8th March, eight talented young musicians, from Districts: 1090 Thames Valley, 1260 Oxford, Bucks, Bedfordshire and Herts, 1080 Norfolk, Suffolk and Cambridgeshire participated in a Rotary Young Musician cluster final at Chelmsford Cathedral. The competition was held to secure spots in the prestigious Rotary National Young Musician final. These musicians had previously demonstrated their exceptional skills in their local and district competitions.
Our area, District 1240, was represented by Amelia from Chelmsford, who played the violin in the instrumental section, and Mariia from Great Dunmow, who sang in the vocal section. Mariia showcased her versatility by accompanying herself on the piano for one of her three pieces. Both Amelia and Mariia performed exceptionally well. Amelia was recognised as the runner-up in the instrumental section, while unfortunately, Mariia did not secure a place in the vocal section.
The instrumental section was won by Fred from District 1080 (Saffron Walden) playing the Clarinet. The vocal section was won by Oscar also from District 1080. Fred and Oscar will now go forwrd to the Rotary National Young Musician competition being held on 29th March, very best of luck to them both.
