The Rotary Club of Dunmow recently held their fifth annual Young Musician Competition, again this year at Helena Romanes School, Dunmow. There were seven musical performances during the event, both singers and instrumentalists, all of a very high standard, making it very hard for the judges.
There were three singers who sang a range of songs, including 'I Dreamed a Dream', 'VoilĂ ', I have nothing', 'If I Ever Loved You' and 'My Soul is Stolen'. The instrumentalists played the piano and violin, with a wide range of music from Tchaikovsky to Jerry Lee Lewis.
All the performances showcased the wonderful musical talent of the young musicians. The overall winner of the Instrumentalist section was Ankhan on piano, but the judges could not split the singing finalists so made Mariia & Thomas joint winners.
The competition was judged by two professional musicians, who provided excellent and valuable feedback to all the entrants during the competition, many thanks to Philip Sunderland and James Cairns.
The Rotary Club of Dunmow would like to thank Helena Romanes School, for allowing us to host the competition at the school, and Empire Pianos who, once again, provided us with a wonderful Grand Piano for the competition.
