Dunmow Rotary Youth Competitions 2024/25

The following competitions are open to  young people up to 17 years old. Entries for Young Writer, Photographer, Environmentalist and Artist are welcome at any time in the year up to the deadline, which this year is Friday 14th February 2025

1. Youth Speaks a debate 2024-25. This is for secondary school students, 11-17 years old. It is open to all schools or scout/guide groups in the local area. Date of the initial local competition to be advised shortly.

2. Young Writer 2024-25. This competition is open to anyone from 5*-17 years old. Theme: Wonderful Water. (Closing date for entries is Friday 14th February 2025.)

3. Young Photographer 2024-25. This competition is open to anyone from 5*-17 years old. Theme: Wonderful Water. (Closing date for entries is Friday 14th February 2025.)

4. Young Artist 2024-25. This competition is open to anyone from 5*-17 years old. Theme: Wonderful Water. (Closing date for entries is Friday 14th February 2025.)

5. Young Environmentalist 2024-25. This competition is open to anyone from 5*-17 years old. The competition is just a District 1240 event this year. Theme: Wonderful Water - The Ocean (Closing date for entries is Friday 28th February 2025 - Note: Just the application form is required by Friday 20th December 2024, for administration reasons.)

6. Young Chef 2024-25.  This competition is open to any young chef from 11-17 years old. The key task is to prepare and cook a two course meal, main and desert, for two people in under two hours for less than £18.  Date of the initial local competition to be advised shortly.

7. Young Musician 2024-25. This competition is open to anyone from 5*-17 years old.  This year’s competition will also include a local Young Composer section.  Date of the initial local competition is Saturday 9th November 2024 and will be held in Helena Romanes School. COMPLETED

All of these competitions offer winning students, aged between 7 & 17, except Youth Speaks which is between 11 & 17, the opportunity to go forward to the District and National Competitions.  All age references are based on the age of the entrant on the 31st August 2024.

Every year we hold an awards evening in May/June to which teachers and families are invited. All participants get a certificate and the winning entries receive a prize.
