The Dunmow & Takeley Rotary Youth Speaks competition took place in Helena Romanes School with five teams taking part, all from Helena Romanes School.
There were two teams at the Intermediate level, who debated 'Animal testing' and 'The British Royal family is an institution not fit for the 21st Century - it's time for the King and the rest of them to go', respectively.
There were three teams at the Senior level debating 'Freedom of speech vs tolerance', Extreme protests' and Cancel culture', respectively.
A very well done to All the teams that took part.
The winning Intermediate team debated 'Animal testing' and the members were:
Ollie - Chairperson, Harry - Proposer and Fletcher - Opposer.
Certificates were presented to the Intermediate teams by Maureen Best, President of Takeley Rotary.
The winning Senior team debated 'Cancel Culture' and the members were:
Mia - Chairperson, Emma - Proposer and Mariana - Opposer.
Certificates were presented to the Senior teams by Colin Bradley, President of Dunmow Rotary.
The two winning teams will now go on to compete in the Rotary District 1240 competition to be held in the Chelmsford Council Chambers, County Hall, on 28th February 2023, starting at 5pm.
