Support and donation to the Australian Fire disaster funds.

Rotarian, Mike Lodder, was born in Australia and has made Dunmow his home with wife Christine and family for many years.

Mike has been an active Rotarian in both Australia and the UK for over 15 years.

Seeing all the disastrous fires that have erupted taking lives as well as destroying hundreds of homes and properties across Australia, Mike suggested Rotary could help and contacted an old friend at the Rotary Club of Bairnsdale, Victoria to ask what help is required and reported to the Club at the meeting today.

We are told they have the material and the labour, but financial help is required to purchase material to rebuild homes.  The Club agreed to send £1000, with one member donating an extra £100.

The money is being sent direct to the Bairnsdale Rotary Club, Australia, where Mike will be visiting later in the year to see how reconstruction is progressing.

In addition as part of the club's Australian connections, through Mike, the club has previously visited the Australian War Cemetery, Amiens, where Mike laid a wreath.
