The Mayor of Bishop's Stortford, Councillor Bob Taylor, attended the meeting of the Rotary Club of Bishop's Stortford last week to present the Club with a cheque for £656 from the Mayor's charity appeal supported by the town's Youth Council, to help fund the provision of a Play Pump which will bring fresh water to the people in a village in Africa. This was the final piece in the jigsaw that has seen the £7000 project through. The rest of the funding has been raised by the two Interact Clubs in Bishop's Stortford based at the High School and Hockerill Anglo European College (£2500 each), the Bishop's Stortford College (£1000) and the Rotary Club itself (£344).
A cheque for £7000 was presented to Rotarian John Bridges of the Rotary Club of Dunmow who has been the inspiration behind this wonderful humanitarian project.
