Recently Bishop’s Stortford Rotary Club made a donation to the newly opened Men’s Shed in the town. We have been very impressed by aims of the project and the way that it has come to fruition. After benefiting from membership of a Men’s Shed for some time and seeing the benefits to others, three local men decided that there was a need for a place in Bishop’s Stortford for men to go and make “stuff” together. Men’s Sheds help to promote social inclusion and integration into society through the provision of facilities in which they can meet to undertake projects jointly or individually.
Age UK Hertfordshire and the local NHS provided support for the new men’s shed, funds were raised, and the shed has been built and opened.
The photograph, taken at the recent official opening, shows the members of the shed with Councillor Norma Symonds, and the President of the Rotary Club David Royle.
The shed is open on Wednesdays from 10am to 4pm and it is fully insured and ready to go.Some of the equipment in the shed can be seen in the photograph.
