Who? 8 wells for 8 Primary Schools in Embu County, Kenya with 2,500 pupils.
Problem? Late and Intermittent rainfall, expensive piped
water available only 1 hour a day, failed crops and pupils trekking
miles to streams to collect dirty water.
Solution? Employ local workmen to dig wells at each school to:
Cost: £2,300 approx. per well. First well completed.
Status: £12,000 raised. £6,500 more needed.
“This water saves the school a lot of money. Children use less time cleaning, we are sure we are using clean water now for cooking, hence safe hygiene. We are growing crops for our feeding program, creating a farmer’s job for a parent thanks to the water supply. The feeding program and surplus food will generate income to pay the farmer, and children will concentrate more in class without disturbances of fetching river water out of class.
Donations can be made via the GlobalGiving crowd funding website.
GlobalGiving has a “prize” fund which it allocates to fundraisers according to the donations they receive.
Crucially, there are prizes for the greatest number of individuals
making a regular donation to a project before December 19. We should have
a good chance of winning that prize if we can have your help.
Please help us and make a regular donation before December 19.
Of course, if you want to give more we would be delighted but what we
really need is the most number of individuals making a donation before that
day, so if in doubt, just donate £5.
More information on the project is available on :
