At end November, the efforts of Billericay Rotary Club member and Youth Services Chairman, James Ilesley, finally bore fruit with the swearing in of over 25 children at Quilters Junior School to the new Quiltonians RotaKids Club. James handed out RotaKids badges to each of the children and was accompanied for this event by Rotary Club of Billericay President Michael Ginn, President Elect Ed Harrison and Club member Roger Kettle.
Two weeks later, on December 10th 2014, saw the final step in the formation of the new club with the presentation of the Charter by District Youth Service Chairman Peter Dowse to the new Secretary of the Quiltonians RotaKids club and the School Headmaster Michael Wade. Michael has been a great supporter of the formation of this club and deserves much praise for his help in making the new club a reality. Peter talked about the good work which Rotary is doing in the world, for example with its "End Polio Now" campaign and welcomed club members to our world of service to others. He followed this by awarding the new President (in absentia), Secretary and Treasurer with their Badges of Office.
The event was held in the School Hall in front of the school children and representatives of the Rotary Club of Billericay - President Michael Ginn, President Elect Ed Harrison and club member Patrick Rothon.
Following the presentation of the Charter, each child came up to receive their special RotaKids wristband from James Ilesley.
back The Club (and the Town's) first RotaKids Club is launched.
