Rotary's Project partner in Disaster Relief is Shelterbox and
Richard Horrell will be giving a presentation to update us on what
has been happening with disaster relief during the last year. it
will briefly cover the fact that Shelterbox has now being going
for 20 years and moving on to highlight all the work that has been
accomplished by the team during the Covid 19 pandemic including
the changes to the methods of delivery and distribution of the
aid items to those suffering natural disasters or to assist
refugees from conflict situations.
It will also cover the preparations being made now to cope with the expected demands on Shelterbox caused by further natural disasters due to climate change and global conflict situations. The Shelterbox motto is 'No Family without Shelter' and with Rotary's support they hope to achieve that. The presentation will explain that even during these difficult times for traditional fundraising there are ways to raise public awareness and generate much needed support for aid procurement and distribution.
During this difficult time we are meeting online twice per month on the 2nd and 4th Thursday's at 7pm via Zoom.
