The West of Scotland Final of our Annual Primary Schools Quiz took place on Monday 6th June at Pollokshaws Burgh Hall. A lovely day for the journey - for some much further than others. We had 22 teams from as far afield as Campbeltown and Stranraer with a few teams having a picnic lunch in the grounds of the Hall before the start.
The contest was a close run thing with Hutcheson's Grammar, who were entered by the Glasgow Club, coming out winners with 101 points out of a possible 120 and just three points ahead of Runners-up, Onthank Primary (Kilmarnock) on 98, with St. Columba's Junior School (Gryffe Valley) just one point behind on 97.
So congratulations to our worthy winners - Hutcheson's Grammar School - and well done to all the other schools involved, we hope you enjoyed your day. Many thanks to our valiant hall keepers for setting up and clearing away the hall, Gryffe Valley Rotary for the refreshments and Kilmarnock Rotary who took on the organising of the event for the first time this year, in particular Quizmaster David Johnstone. Also thanks to our District Governor Elect, William Campbell who came along and presented the trophy, and certificates to all the contestants.
Photographs of all the teams taking part are shown - these have been cropped and resized for the website. The original photographs (much larger files) have been forwarded to each Club entering a team and any enquiries about them should be directed to your contact Rotary Club.
