MATLOCK ROTARIANS HELPING WITH THE ANNUAL POPPY APPEAL
Local Rotarians from the Rotary Club of Matlock supported the Royal British Legion by assisting with the recent poppy collection at Sainsburys that raised 3,919 for the appeal. Members also helped with the distribution of collecting boxes to the Matlock Appeal area and to the separate Darley Dale Appeal area.
Rotarians were also present at the Cenotaph on the Sunday Remembrance Day Parade and Service with President Peter Wigglesworth laying a wreath on behalf of the Rotary Club of Matlock.
Tod Dakin, Past President of Matlock Rotary and RBL member says it is important to help communities: We have a number of current and ex-service people both in Matlock Rotary and in the area and it is very clear that support is needed. From needing homes adapted for disabilities to helping the bereaved with form filling, the RBL is there and so is Rotary.
The club is in touch with the community and has helped with fund raising for Help the Heroes, SSAFA as well as many other local causes. Rotary is for communities and we see this as simply part of what we do. We do it because we want to help improve the lives of others and because we enjoy it.
The Club are also working to establish a defibrillator near to Matlock post office.
