The Rotary Club of Derby has once again launched its campaign to fill shoeboxes with small gifts for children in Ukraine and neighbouring countries, where they would otherwise receive nothing at Christmas. Our thanks to everyone that volunteered their time for the Teams4U Love in a Box Christmas Shoebox Campaign. Last year there were 2443 collected in Derby and Derbyshire and another 800 brought over from Nottingham.
As well as several members of The Rotary Club of Derby and members of the Teams4U warehouse team, we were assisted by volunteers from Youth with a Mission, GoodGym and the Transition2 college for young adults with learning difficulties. It was very successful and the lorry was loaded in less than an hour, after which it left to collect more shoeboxes from Burton on Trent, on its way to Moldova. Two of our warehouse volunteers went over to the Ukraine border, to help to deliver the gifts to children living in poverty over there.
