On Saturday Penrith Rotary, Penrith Inner Wheel and "Friends of Penrith Rotary" turned out to do a street collection in aid of the Turkey/Syria earthquake appeal.
We manned strategic positions around Penrith between 0900 and 1500 in two hour shifts.
The cover photo shows the rather palatial quarters that were provided for our collectors at the Booth's store [Thanks Booth's], perhaps this made a difference as about a third of our takings on the day were collected there.
The total collected on the day came to almost £1300, which together with pre-day donations of £300 gave us an overall total of £1600.
So, we had a successful day and this money will be swiftly donated to the Rotary in GB & Ireland Turkey Earthquake Disaster Fund or to Shelterbox, or possibly split between them.
