Despite the poor weather
conditions (gale-force winds and rain – causing flooding) musicians and their
families, accompanists, teachers, Rotarians and Adjudicators all arrived at
Queen Elizabeth Grammar School, Penrith safely to attend the D1190 Young
Musician Final. The standard of performances was once again very high and every
single competitor gave an outstanding performance. The Adjudicators (Mr Daniel Roberts, Head of
Music at QEG’s Penrith and Ian Butterworth, musician and leader of Penrith Town
Band and Eden Swing Band) had a very difficult job of deciding who would be
winners for the 2 categories. They gave
excellent written feedback to each competitor, so that they can learn from the
valuable experience and be proud of their achievements.
A total of six instrumentalists
and five vocalists aged 11-18 took part and the results were as follows:
Instrumental Winner
Dev Cooney – piano – AKS, Lytham
