The Penrith Rotary Club Community Award is presented to people who have
provided outstanding service for their local community. This year Joan
Robinson from Penrith was selected as the worthy recipient. In a
presentation ceremony at the town's George Hotel Rotarian Charlie Shepherd
paid tribute to Joan's leadership and contribution to the planting up of
various areas around the town in an initiative that has improved many odd
corners and neglected pieces of ground. Also although not a member of the
Salvation Army, Charlie paid tribute to her work and support for that
organisation in protecting the poor and vulnerable.
