Earlier this year Rotary Queensferry were approached by a Dalmeny resident for support to replace six worn-out flower planters on the village green. The Rotary Environmental Team rose to the challenge and obtained a community grant from City of Edinburgh Council which covered building and plant materials. The new planters were designed, built and are being planted by the team.
They were designed for easy maintenance by local residents, schools and businesses. Dalmeny Estates made a generous contribution to fund a new beech tree which was planted earlier in the year. The tree and plaque were 'unveiled' by Bill Ross, at ninety-five, one of Dalmeny's most senior residents.
To complete the village green makeover, local resident Matt Purdie repainted the traditional telephone box.
