At the virtual meeting of the Rotary Club of South Queensferry on 24th June, President Irene Brownless welcomed Terry Keefe from Southport Rotary Club and honorary Member Gordon McInally.

As the Rotary year drew to a close, the Rotary Club of South Queensferry saluted local people whose dedication, inspiration and hard work had benefited the community over this difficult year. President Irene said she was glad to have the opportunity to acknowledge some of the many folk in Queensferry who strive, often unappreciated, to improve the quality of life in the town. The presentations were made on Monday 21st June at Hawthornbank.

President Irene then presented some club awards. The Jim Boyd Paperweight went to Craig MacKenzie for managing and organising  the club's community involvement in the Rosebery Hall Christmas lighting and the Haven garden project. The John Rennie Trophy was awarded to the Virtual Christmas Team. Irene thanked them for preparing the  sleigh, Santa videos and colouring-in drawings for distribution to schools. She thanked Norman Watson for his work with Queensferry Christmas Lights switch-on.

Jim McCulloch nominated Past President and ADG Graham Leith for honorary membership for his services to the club and District 1020. Graham was delighted to accept. Jim McCulloch then gave a short presentation on the District Conference. Terry Keefe sent greetings from the Southport club. He will become their 99th president on 1st July. He wished incoming president Derek Clark a successful year.

Summing up, President Irene said, through the Community Awards, she was delighted to be able to show Rotary's appreciation of Queensferry people who, by engaging in imaginative projects, benefit the town and its residents in unprecedented times.
