The annual QCCC / Rotary Charity Golf Day was held on Monday 21st September at Dundas Parks Golf Club, South Queensferry. The competition is organised by the Rotary Club of South Queensferry and benefits Queensferry Churches Care in the Community also known as Queensferry Care. QCCC was formed twenty-five years ago. Its mission is to provide quality support services to older people and their carers in North West Rural Edinburgh, enabling them to maintain an independent lifestyle within their own communities.
The competition saw fourteen teams with a total of fifty-six enthusiastic golfers play eighteen holes over a well-prepared course at Dundas Parks in reasonable weather - so no excuses on the day! Activity and play was organised with strict social distancing following all the current Government Covid Guidelines. The successful golf and fundraising day was enjoyed by all.
Top scorers were:
1st Mark Niven Decorators. They received the John Carrie Salver plus a round for four at Dalmahoy Championship Course.
2nd Kirkliston Maitland. They received a round for four at Ratho Park Golf Club.
3rd Jim Hunter's team. They received a round for four at Pitreavie Golf Club.
The top ladies' team was The Swinging Quartet led by Joan Pennie. They each received a goody bag of golf fashion items.
The grand sum of £2,775 was raised through team entry fees, hole sponsorship and a very successful online raffle. A great effort for a well-deserving charity. The day was organised a little differently this year, but achieved a tremendous result all round. QCCC and the Rotary Club of South Queensferry would like to thank all players, volunteers, sponsors and raffle prize donors. Thanks are also due to Dundas Parks Golf Club for use of their challenging course.
