The meeting was held via Zoom

At their weekly Zoom meeting on Thursday 15th October, members of the Rotary Club of South Queensferry saw a video presentation made from photographs and film taken at the annual Rotary Raft Race between 2004 and 2008. The Raft Race, which was a favourite in the Queensferry calendar for decades, was only discontinued when essential repair work on the Hawes Pier made it impossible to hold the event. It was nice to remember those days, but tinged with sadness because so many members shown have now gone to higher service. The Raft Race was replaced by the Rotary Forth Bridge Abseil which proved a great success, raising over £1 million for charity over its first ten years. When the covid crisis eases and it is possible to run outdoor events safely, it is hoped to resume the Abseil, though there is know knowing when this might be.
