RCSQ's Got Talent

On Thursday 3rd September President Irene Brownless welcomed members of the Rotary Club of South Queensferry to a Talent Night. The evening was competed by Jim McCulloch, who presented a series of pre-videoed acts performed by club members. Norman Watson took care of the technical work required to produce a most professional entertainment through the medium of Zoom. Graham Leith and Neil McKinlay did a sketch about an Aberdeenshire farmer making out his will in a solicitor's office. Graham played the farmer to a tee, delighted to have a chance to speak his native Doric. Jim McCulloch followed with two songs: The Red Yo-yo by Matt McGinn and Billy Connelly's Welly Boot Song. Robbie Brechin rendered a poem by Dr J.A. Begg called 'The Cauld'. Delivered very much in the style of Burns, Robbie appeared bent over a large bowl pretending to be clearing his sinuses. Matt Purdie recalled former television days with one of Cyril Fletcher's odes from the That's Life programme entitled 'The Tale of Sonia Snell'. The Zoom presentation closed with a short sketch shot in a field starring Norman Watson and Stuart Ridge. The theme, Harvesting Turnips, was based on Radio 4 and Stuart played both the farmer and his wife.

The virtual audience agreed they had enjoyed a very entertaining night, well filmed and prepared; proof that the club can still produce a thoroughly enjoyable social event despite the reality of only socialising through Zoom.
