Super Typhoon Rai

Thousands left homeless and hungry at Christmas as Philippines faces up to climate crisis reality of super typhoon

CNN reports:

Homeless at Christmas

"Nearly 4 million people across more than 400 cities were affected by Typhoon Rai, according to the Philippine National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC).
More than half a million remained displaced during Christmas -- one of the most important holidays in the Catholic-majority nation."


In view of this disaster the Newtown Rotary Club has decided to give some support by sending money to Shelterbox and Aquabox to help support the homeless and provide some clean water to people who have been devastated by this typhoon.  Rotary International will be doing their best to bring some relief to those stricken by the disaster.

Sand Dams

more The Club did some fundraising through organising a Swimathon and raised over £2000. This money was split between the Teams taking part in the Swimathon, local and international projects in our Club. £500 was donated to Sand Dams in Africa and Asia.
