Pilgrim is a wooden built heritage trawler built in 1895,
at a time in the past when this type of trawler was the lifeblood of this fishing port.
Today it is maintained by volunteers and used for many local charters and charity events.
To keep a heritage ship like this in good order and safe costs many thousands of pounds a year, that are raised by volunteers and some revenue for her being hired out.
This year she is mostly in port having maintenance carried out, but in dire need of replacement sails that don’t come cheap, with an estimated price of £40,000 for all seven sails.
Therefore, the donation from our club goes a little way to help.
