Bay Sports, Petanque

2nd September saw the opening event of the 2021 Bays Sports, Petanque organised by Dartmouth Rotary at Stoke Fleming.


Paignton fielded a total of 16 players for the first match of the 2021 season, which was Petanque hosted by Dartmouth Rotary at Stoke Fleming on the 2nd September.

As well as having their own "A" and "B" teams, Paignton also lent players to Totnes, Babbacombe, and Sunrise. After a lovely evening of good humoured competition, Paignton emerged as victors.

The event was rounded off by an excellent curry at the nearby hotel, accompanied by suitable liquid refreshment.

Paignton Rotary Win Bay Sports Competition 2021 / 22

more The 2021 / 22 competion was cut short due to Covid-19 restrictions, and was decided after just three sports, darts, target golf, and petanque. This played to our strengths, and Paignton were awarded the Cup for the first time since 1996.

more A full season of friendly competition with our neighbouring Rotary Clubs. Members can take part in target golf, ten pin bowling, shuffle board, darts, skittles, pitch and putt and lawn bowls, all in a sociable setting with a meal afterwards.

Petanque at Stoke Fleming

back Regular competitions are held between the Rotary Clubs surrounding Torbay. Members compete for an annual trophy, with each Club organising one of the events, which include skittles, ten pin bowling, target golf, shuffle board, lawn bowls, & darts.
